RIDGE SPRING, S.C. - April 9, 2019 -The Clemson Alumni Association recently honored recipients of the 2019 Clemson Alumni Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor that the association bestows on Clemson Tiger graduates. One such honoree is the produce industry's own, Lori Anne Carr, vice president and administrative manager of Titan Farms - the premier grower, packer and processor of peaches in the Eastern United States. Carr is also president of Palmetto Processing Solutions.

The prestigious Clemson Alumni Distinguished Service Award is based on three main criteria: personal and professional accomplishments, dedication and service to Clemson University, and devotion to community and public service. Members of the Clemson family nominate potential honorees, who are then selected by the Clemson Alumni Association as outstanding alumni, public servants and examples to others. Along with Carr, other alumni honored through this award include Navy veterans, retired educators and fellow business owners.

Carr received a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education in 1990 and a Master of Education in administration and supervision in 1992. Seven years later, Carr and her husband, Chalmers, launched Titan Farms. Today they farm over 6,200 acres of peaches and vegetables. A die-hard Clemson Tiger, Carr has volunteered on the Clemson University Board of Visitors and the Clemson University Foundation Board, serving as a member of the Development, Finance, Nominations and Policy & Constitution committees.

Along with her day to day duties, Carr spends part of her time hosting farm tours for students, faculty, staff and administrators. With a passion for agriculture, she has chaired the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences' Will to Lead Campaign Board, helped develop the Chalmers Carr III '90 and Lori Anne Carr '90 Creative Inquiry Endowmentand has served as one of the voices for Clemson and agriculture at the South Carolina statehouse in Columbia.

"Lori Anne's dedication and service to Clemson University is evident not only by her financial support but by her active involvement," said George Askew, Vice President for Public Service and Agriculture in his letter of support. "Whether she is speaking to a class, hosting a group from campus on their farm, serving on a board or speaking to the state legislature on Clemson's behalf, [she] always represents her alma mater in the most positive and professional manner."

Along with her husband, Carr was named the Top Producer of the Year award winner and received the inaugural Bayer CropScience Produce Innovation Award - presented to a leader in the produce industry whose thinking, practices and use of technology enhance the role of produce in creating better lives.
