WP Rawl Hosts Final Katie's Krops Camp with Special Hometown Tribute

BY: Jen Velasquez | DATE: June 12, 2017

Pelion, SC; June 12, 2017 - WP Rawl, the premier grower, processor and shipper of leafy greens in the US, pays special tribute to Katie Stagliano by sponsoring the final installment of Katie's Krops camp in Katie's hometown of Summerville, SC. This will be the final year of the camp before Katie heads to college this fall.

The three day event is expected to start in Pelion, home of WP Rawl, and conclude where Katie's Krops began. The young growers will host their own dinner for those in need with harvest from the flagship Katie's Krops garden, located at Pinewood Preparatory School in Summerville, SC.

"I am deeply grateful and appreciative of WP Rawl's generosity and support of our organization's mission towards national hunger-relief," said 18-year-old Katie Stagliano. "They have taught me and my peers so much and their support for the last five years has really meant so much not just to me, but to all of our Katie's Krops growers and the people we've been able to help."

Katie's Krops Camp is an annual event aimed at educating young growers about agriculture, the environment and teaches a sustainable solution to the problem of hunger, as well as responsibility and compassion.

"WP Rawl is honored to have produced this special event each year," said Ashley Rawl, director of sales & marketing for WP Rawl. "We are so thankful to have met Katie and learn about her cause to enable youth to help those less fortunate. Katie and her growers have shown us that anyone can make a difference, no matter their age."

We invite you to join us at this special Katie's Krops dinner on Thursday, June 29th at Summerville Baptist Church, located at 417 Central Avenue in Summerville. Our dinners are always free and everyone is welcome. The doors to the Fellowship Hall will open at 5:30pm and dinner is served at 6pm. Please feel free to share, spread the word and help us end hunger.

About Katie's Krops

Katie's Krops empowers youth across the country to end hunger in their communities, one vegetable garden at a time. The youth-based not-for-profit was founded by 18-year-old Katie's Stagliano who at the tender age of 9 donated a 40 pound cabbage to a soup kitchen where it fed 275. Moved by the experience, she started Katie's Krops which currently has over 50 youth-run gardens in over 30 states.
